After breakfast, we slow down on purpose. Coffee in hand, we take in the view. The sea stretches endlessly, and the air carries that faint citrus scent Sorrento is known for.

Meanwhile, cafés begin to fill. Locals stand at the bar, espresso in seconds, while pastries dusted in sugar catch your eye from every angle.

In contrast to the busy streets later in the day, this moment feels quiet and personal.

What is it like to drive the Amalfi Coast?
It’s one of the most scenic drives in the world—winding roads, cliffside views, and constant moments that make you pause.

As we leave Sorrento, the road begins to twist along the cliffs. With every turn, the view changes—boats scattered across the water, homes layered into the hills, and that deep blue Mediterranean stretching out forever.

Soon after, we arrive in Vietri sul Mare, known as the gateway to the Amalfi Coast. Here, the town speaks through its ceramics. Hand-painted pieces reflect daily life, traditions, and generations of craftsmanship.

In addition, the Church of St. John the Baptist immediately draws your attention. Its vibrant ceramic dome shines in the sunlight, creating a perfect blend of history and artistry.

An Unexpected Encounter: The Buffalo Moment

Where does authentic mozzarella come from in Italy?
It comes from water buffalo—raised locally and essential to the production of mozzarella di bufala.

Along the way, we had one of those completely unplanned moments that end up defining the day.

We came face-to-face with a water buffalo.

Up close, these animals are powerful yet calm. One stood still, looking directly at us with surprising curiosity. It was one of those moments where time slows down.

However, what made it even more meaningful was the connection to food. This isn’t just an animal—it’s the beginning of authentic mozzarella.

As a result, everything you taste later—every creamy bite—feels different because you’ve seen where it starts.

Then, we continue to Minori, where the pace softens. Here, we visit a family-owned limoncello factory.

The difference is clear right away. The flavor is brighter, fresher, and unmistakably local.

Afterward, we take a traditional Italian break. Espresso arrives quickly. Pastries follow. No one rushes..

For example, fresh bread with the perfect texture.
