Day 6 Romagna Countryside – San Marino – Romagna Countryside
Today felt like one of those days where I had to pinch myself just to make sure it was real.
We started off in the Romagna countryside, where the land rolls gently like waves. It’s calm, quiet, and green — but by mid-morning we were winding our way up to San Marino, the tiny republic perched high on Mount Titano. Hard to believe this is the fifth-smallest country in the world, because standing at the top, it feels endless. From there, the Adriatic sparkled in the distance, and all around were hills layered like patchwork.

San Marino’s old town looks like something carved out of a medieval painting. The fortification towers, walls, gates, and bastions make you feel like a knight patrolling the ramparts. The stone paths twist and turn, and every corner opens up to another breathtaking view.
We stopped mid-morning for a cappuccino. There’s just something about sipping coffee in a small Italian square — the cup warm in your hands, the rich smell in the air, and the sight of locals going about their daily lives. The plaza was alive with people strolling, chatting, and laughing. As if on cue, an accordion player began filling the square with music. The notes drifted through the air, giving the whole place a soundtrack that felt like it had been written just for us. That sound, mixed with the hum of conversation and clinking cups, made the cappuccino taste even better.

By evening, we were back at our wine resort hotel in the countryside. Before dinner, we toured the cellar, standing among rows of massive oak barrels that held the harvest of the region. Our guide spoke with such passion about how each barrel shaped the wine, and it was clear that this wasn’t just winemaking — it was storytelling through flavor.

Dinner itself was a proper wine-pairing feast. Each course came with its own wine, and with every sip the flavors seemed to open up in new ways. It wasn’t just eating; it was an education in taste. The table was full of laughter, conversation, and the kind of joy that only comes from sharing food and wine together. Surrounded by the vineyard and the warmth of new friends, it was the perfect way to close our stay in Romagna.
