Day 1 Overnight Flight
Your journey begins with an overnight flight.  After we land, we’ll take a scenic drive to our hotel and freshen up.  It’s hard to not get excited for what awaits us, Italy’s most remarkable landscapes and towns, full of grape vines, olive trees, and seaside views.

Day 1: Overnight flight to Rome
Welcome to Italy, a land rich in history, culture, art and romance.   Once we settle into the hotel and freshen up, I will help you plan your first evening in the Eternal City with great restaurant recommendations and maybe a fun walk of Rome this evening.

Day 2: Rome
Welcome to Roma, the “Eternal City”! We start the day together exploring natural ruins and historical landmarks, I like to snack on the fantastic street foods along the way and then do a cocktail on one of Rome’s popular rooftop restaurants overlooking the city. This evening, we will all meet together for a special welcome to Italy dinner at a popular local restaurant featuring regional delicacies and plenty of fine local wines.

Day 3: Rome
After breakfast, we’ll start the day off with a guided tour of Classical Rome, and discover famous sights such as the Baths of Caracalla, the legendary Aventine and Palatine Hills, the ancient Circus Maximus and the Arch of Constantine. After trekking around the historic roads and ruins, we’ll head over to the staple of Rome, the Colosseum, for an in-depth tour and learn about its rich and fascinating history. We have the afternoon to ourselves, see me about what to do next; lunch, perhaps go to the Vatican City, (with an optional tour to the Vatican Museums and St. Peter’s Basilica*), toss a coin in the Trevi Fountain for good luck, traverse through the Pantheon, or take a breather on the Spanish Steps.

Day 4: Rome – Assisi – Perugia
Along the way we will have fun as Tour Manager Mariangela will share a few key Italian phrases. Once there we meet up with our local expert and take in the old-world atmosphere on a guided walking tour of the village, including an in-depth tour of the Basilica of St. Francis. During our free time to roam join me at my favorite spot for a cappuccino and wonderful pastry. Next we are off to medieval Perugia, the historic capital of Umbria and home to Galileo. Behold one of the grandest squares in Itly, the Piazza IV Novembre. You will delight in the medieval palaces and ornate cathedrals. I suggest we dine here along the hustle and bustle of this college town.

Day 5: Perugia/Assisi – Siena – Florence
A scenic journey through Tuscany’s graceful low-lying hills brings us to the mystical city of Siena. We will delight in its narrow Gothic streets, magnificent palaces and historic Piazza del Campo. After a walking tour with a local expert, take some time to explore the medieval corners of Siena. You are sure to find many surprises among its shops and outdoor cafés. Later we arrive in Florence, the “Cradle of the Italian Renaissance”. This evening, we have a great dinner planned for you at a local restaurant.

In Florence, the “Cradle of the Italian Renaissance”, we jump in front of the lines and visit the world-famous Academy Gallery to see Michelangelo’s incredible statue of David. During our cultural tour of Florence you’ll also view the Cathedral of Santa Maria del Fiore, the Duomo, the Palazzo Vecchio and the Church of Santa Croce. We relax for the rest of the day and enjoy this fascinating city at our leisure. Ask me for suggestions on local dining, excursions and shopping.

Day 7: Florence – Venice
After breakfast our first tour is a visit to a historic winery in the heart of the Chianti region. In the shadow of its 12th-century castle, we learn about the winery’s famed Tuscan wines and enjoy a light lunch filled with local specialties. This afternoon we journey through central Italy, crossing the wooded Apennine Mountains toward the Valley of the Po. Enchanting Venice awaits with 117 tiny islands and its latticework of 150 canals and 400 bridges.

Day 8: Venice – Murano Island
After a hearty breakfast, see Venice from the water as we board a boat bound for Murano Island for an up-close glass making demonstration. Discover the secrets of this ancient art and marvel at the intricate designs of each one-of-a- kind piece. Then we make our way to St. Mark’s Square where it’s your choice! Join a local expert on a walking tour of this famous square to view the stunning Basilica and visit the impressive Doge’s Palace and the legendary Bridge of Sighs. Or, go off the beaten path to explore the Castello Sestiere district with a local expert; get to know authentic Venice and see for yourself how the locals live as you walk canal by canal through the narrow streets lined with churches and historic buildings. The remainder of the day is at leisure to explore independently.

Day 9: Venice – Lake Como – Milan Malpensa
This morning, we take a scenic drive across the plains of northern Italy to the shores of glamorous Lake Como. During a ferry ride to Bellagio, we’ll admire the endless succession of historic villas, lush gardens, and colorful villages reflected in the lake’s blue waters. Enjoy some time at leisure to explore Bellagio’s charms before sailing back to Como where you check into your hotel in the late afternoon. This evening, celebrate the end of an unforgettable trip with a farewell dinner at your hotel.

Day 10: Milan Malpensa
We bus to the airport and reminisce about how amazing our journey was and contemplate our next return to magnificent Italy.
