Day 1: Overnight Flight to Montecatini Terme Hotel Ercolini & Savi

We all meet at the airport where our journey begins with an overnight flight.  Buongiorno (Good Morning) Welcome to Tuscany, Rolling landscapes, savory wines, delicious food and stunning architecture – find all of this and more on this journey among Italy’s most charming towns. Unpack once at Hoet Ercolini and Savi in the heart of town. Our hotel has been in the family for over 100 years and the mother Luciana and her son work their daily. You will love the location in the heart of town but still on a quite street. We are close to restaurants and boutiques and I look forward to showing off this wonderful town with roots all the way back to the Roman era.

Day 2: Montecatini Terme, Italy – Dinner included

Get ready to immerse yourself in the heart of the famous spa resort town of Montecatini Terme, nestled in the heart of the rolling hills of Tuscany.

Your tour opens in this evening, get to know travelers during a welcome dinner where regional foods and Italian wines kick off your adventure.

It’s the perfect way to start our adventure and set the tone for an exciting and unforgettable trip!

Day 3: Luca – Breakfast 
Today we immerse yourself in the hidden gem of Tuscany with a captivating guided tour of Lucca, a town brimming with Renaissance walls, Romanesque churches, and picturesque medieval streets adorned with majestic towers. Experience the freedom to explore at your own pace before venturing to Borgo a Mozzano. Behold the awe-inspiring Ponte del Diavolo, also known as Devil’s Bridge, and witness the remnants of the formidable Gothic Line, the German army’s final stronghold during World War II. Delve into history at the Museum of Liberation, where authentic fortifications and bunkers reveal poignant stories. Indulge your senses at a charming Tuscan winery, where you’ll unravel the secrets of winemaking while savoring the delightful flavors of local varieties.

Day 4:  Florence – Optional Breakfast

Todays adventure is Florence, the “Cradle of the Renaissance”.  We beat the crowds and begin with a visit to the renowned Academy Gallery to witness the awe-inspiring masterpiece of Michelangelo’s David sculpture. Accompanied by a knowledgeable local Florentine guide we meander through the city on a delightful walking tour. You will marvel at the grandeur of the Cathedral of Santa Maria del Fiore and admire the intricate gilded bronze doors of the Baptistery at the iconic Piazza del Duomo. Immerse yourself in the vibrant atmosphere of the Piazza della Signoria and soak in the historical charm of Santa Croce Square. During our free time I will guide you where to shop and have lunch or explore more history in this unparalleled city according to your own preferences, indulging in the countless wonders it has to offer.

Day 5: Montecatini Terme –or– Siena Breakfast

Today, indulge yourself in one of two enticing options. First, immerse yourself in the rich history of Montecatini through a captivating guided walking tour. Explore its enchanting streets and uncover the secrets of the renowned Tettuccio Spa, famous for its mineral waters and their incredible health benefits. Alternatively, embark on a mesmerizing journey to Siena, a city steeped in charm. Traverse the narrow Gothic streets on a fascinating walking tour, delving into the vibrant local lifestyle of a charming contrada. This neighborhood thrives around the exhilarating Palio horse race, a kaleidoscope of colors and fervent emotions. The choice is yours, and both options promise an unforgettable experience that will leave you spellbound.

Day 6  Pisa Breakfast, Dinner

Today we meet our local guide and dicover the ancient maritime republic of Pisa. This architectural wonder has fascinated visitors for centuries but the whole are is fascinating as we explore the grand Baptistery, the largest in Italy. Next we’ll venture to the peaceful Tuscan countryside for our cooking class to learn some secrets of traditional Tuscan cuisine. We indulge in the fruits of our labor and savor our freshly-prepared meal for dinner, always a fun day and true celebration of flavors and traditions.

Day 7: Montecatini Terme  – optional Cinque Tera  Breakfast

Today is your day to unwind and immerse yourself in the local charm of Montecatini. Maybe take in the spa and book a message. Ask me about some of the local boutiques and hidden treasures. Likewise I have local restaurant recommendations for every craving.  Or book the excursion to Cinque Terre, five charming fishing villages that boasts some of the most picturesque coastal landscapes in the world. Imagine colorful buildings and terraced vineyards clinging to the rugged cliffs plunging into the coastline. The dramatic beauty of Cinque Terre is simply awe-inspiring and provides an abundance of photo-worthy moments. (See below)

Day 8: Cheese Farm Visit – San Gimignano   Breakfast Lunch & Dinner

Today’s adventure has us going to a delightful cheese farm visit near San Gimignano, where you’ll discover the fascinating process of pecorino cheese production and indulge in flavorful tastings. Afterwards we explore the enchanting hilltop village of San Gimignano, with its iconic towers and panoramic views. Enjoy free time to savor some gelato from an award winning gelato champion.  This evening we partake in a Tuscan feast of traditional cuisine and wines amidst the picturesque countryside setting. This experience combines the best of culinary delights, medieval charm, and breathtaking landscapes, offering a truly memorable way to end our Tuscan dream.

Day 9: Montecatini Terme – USA Tour Ends Includes Breakfast

After breakfast we bus to the airport and reminisce about our unforgettable journey and contemplate our next return to magnificent Italy.  If you want to stay longer while already in Italy consider a stay in Rome or Venice.  Both easy cities to fly out of.
