After a warm Tuscan sunrise and a hearty Italian breakfast, we set off on a day that felt like walking through the pages of a Renaissance novel. First stop? Lucca – Tuscany’s best-kept secret and a city that knows how to charm without trying too hard.

Walking Lucca’s perfectly preserved Renaissance walls, we were surrounded by panoramic views and a calm energy unlike any other city in Italy. The Romanesque churches stand like time capsules, quietly guarding centuries of stories. We strolled the medieval streets, flanked by towers and lined with shops, trattorias, and timeless beauty.
There was time to explore on our own – some of us climbed Torre delle Ore, others sipped espresso under the shade of Piazza dell’Anfiteatro. No matter the choice, the city offered peace and history in every step.

Pizzi, Provincia di Lucca, Italy
En route to Borgo a Mozzano, we passed through Pizzi, a countryside village where vineyard-covered hills roll endlessly into the horizon. The Tuscan sun made everything glow golden.

Borgo a Mozzano, Provincia di Lucca, Italy
Then came the legendary Ponte del Diavolo (Devil’s Bridge) – a marvel of medieval engineering with a name that hints at its mysterious past. Legend has it the devil helped build it… but lost in the details was the fact that it’s breathtakingly beautiful.
Nearby, we walked through the remains of the Gothic Line, Germany’s final line of defense during World War II. The Museum of Liberation brought history alive. We explored authentic bunkers and fortifications, touched by the resilience of the past and reminded how Tuscany’s beauty is layered with stories.

Porcari, Province of Lucca, Italy
Our afternoon ended with a visit to a Tuscan winery in Porcari, where we were treated to a behind-the-scenes look at the art of winemaking. The scent of fermenting grapes, the soft clink of wine glasses, and the passion of the winemakers created an unforgettable atmosphere. Each sip of local varietals came with a toast to Tuscany – to its hills, its heart, and its hospitality.
Montecatini Terme, Provincia di Pistoia, Italy
As we returned to Montecatini Terme, full of wine, history, and joy, one thing was clear: Tuscany had already started working its magic on us.
